Want to try a Triathlon? Swim 1/4 mile, Bike 9.5 miles, Run 2 miles
What is it?
Try-the-Tri is a once-a-week event geared towards an introduction to the sport of Triathlon. It starts the second Wednesday of June and lasts for 10 weeks, organized by Scott Casper (firstname.lastname@example.org) with assistance provided by Laura Boerman (Registration Coordinator), the Powell family (Volunteer Coordinators) and Marc Shaponic (on-site mentor). The race consists of a ~400 yard swim, 9.5 mile bike, and 2 mile run. Water/gatorade stations are provided at T2, at the turn around for the run, and at the finish. The course is marked with signage, volunteers and cones. Check out the video of the course.
Note: the swim will have a beginners buoy, giving you a chance to shorten the swim. There are life guards, kayaks, swim angels, and a safety boat for the swim as well.
We continue to support our beginners. Those who are interested in “trying” a triathlon, this is what this race series is for. Once you try it, you'll be hooked. We will have dedicated bike racks for beginners, as well as an on-site mentor to answer questions and help beginner triathletes. This season, July 6th will be the kids Tri and a beginner’s Tri (a shortened version of the regular Try the Tri course). If you’re interested, but still a little nervous, please consider the beginners night on July 6th.
Who can participate and how much?
■Trifury club members are eligible to race ($10 per race).
■Non-members who have never participated in Try-the-tri in the past can try it out once ($15).
■Non-members who have raced Try-the-tri in the past must become a member to participate again.
Membership applications will be available on-site and membership dues must be paid before participating. Once a member, the cost to enter the race is $10. Bring cash or check (made out to Trifury).
Club members are highly encouraged to volunteer (if not participating). This year we will again request that you volunteer once for every 4 races you compete in. This means that you can race 8 times, and volunteer twice, giving you 2 TriFury Selected event points. 2 points!!

We're forever grateful to Claire Cloutier for building such a great introduction into our sport. The entire 2015 season was dedicated to Claire and her vision of growing our sport and TriFury, but we will continue to dedicate these races to Claire and always keep her in our thoughts and prayers.
